Being an Electrical Engineer by trade and a part time audio designer and modifier, I've payed little or no attention to items like component feet, stands, and the
like. It wasn't until Ric Cummins from Rosinante sent me Dark Matter stands
in exchange for work I did for him, that I got my first taste of these devices.

To put it mildly, I was very impressed. The stands arrived very well packaged.
They consisted of heavy composite feet, a MDF board, two types of Sorbothane
feet, the Dark Matter Board itself, and then sleaved bearings to place your
equipment on top of. They are finished in black with wood sides and are about
20" X 18" X 3" high.

I placed my modified MFA Luminessence (a ten octal tube beast of a pre-amp) on
one of stands and a highly modifed Leak Stereo 20 on the other. There was by no
doubt an improvement. All images tighened up. In orchestral music, different
sections came out as though they were right in front of you in there own
separate areas. In music like Pink Floyd, the music really seemed to make the
whole back wall dance. These are things my system already did, but now it was
taken a whole step further.

I beive the stands cost about $300, and the shelf version costs about $250. In
my sceptical mind it is money well spent. Ric Cummins and Rosinante can be
