Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $700.00 from individual

Summary:
this tuner is nithing short of phenominal. it makes radio stations sound like a cd. the stereo seperation will adsolutely amaze you. I have been an electronics tech. for 17 years and an audiophile for 25 years and it is the best tuner i have ever heard.................

Strengths:
dynamic range if phenominal, it is very sensitive,
and is fairly selective but really shows off with an outside antenna. even better with more than one antenna to select from

Weaknesses:
no remote, only remote with a c38 preamp

Similar Products Used:
sony, philips

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
Recently upgraded from a McIntosh MR78 analog tuner to the McIntosh MR7082. While the MR78 is a beautiful piece of work (see reviews), I found that it was overly warm to my ears and 'rough' on close-miked DJ's, etc. Perhaps a tour through Audio Classics alignment shop might have cured this. But, it was by far the hotest running piece of equipment I had and I decided to try something more modern - hence the MR7082. Immediately I found the sound to be much improved - no roughness on close-miked sources, considerably quieter, easier to tune. Very CD/LP sounding rather than 'radio' sounding. Did lose that wonderful analog front display on the MR78, but all other aural aspects are superior on the MR7082. And, isn't that what we are here for?

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
