Strengths: sound, ease of use, remote
AM/FM Stereo
CD Player
Clock
One button (including remote) to kick off ipod music play
comes with adapters to fit all ipod models in the dock, and usb port for ipod shuffle.
charges ipod while docked
aux input jack
headphone output jackWeaknesses: requires 8 D-Cells for remote use, adds significant weight
extra noise at high volume
predefined equalizers don't have a dramatic affect on sound
radio reception a little less than expected
no control of ipod itself -- playlists, etc. from remote.
would like to see some type of weather-proofing or sun-screen for the ipod as it sits in it's dock.Bottom Line: Much less risk of losing your investment compared to more expensive units, when in the back yard, on the beach, in the park or around the pool. Sound is far from excellent, but in an outdoor environment with all the ambient noise around, it worked very well.
As long as you understand what you are getting for the price, this can be a very good buy.
