I'm a pro musician and have had this music system for many years. When we bought it, the sales person advised us to purchase an additional sub-woofer and we did. This proved to be the vital thing and raised the level of this system to a much higher level. I love it! Great sound and stunning good looks! But a sub- woofer is mandatory to really bring out the best in this system.

Strength:

great clarity even at highest volumes, bi-amplified speakers, best audio system out there for under $600, decent bass

Weakness:

could use a little more bass but hey it's a microsystem

This is by far the best sounding micro system that i've heard out there. I listen to a lot of electronica and dance music and the sound that comes from this little system is amazing in it's clarity and accuracy. The system looks great in a room and coupled w/ a subwoofer is unbelievable. The system is well balanced and even though it's only 15W per channel sounds a lot more powerful and rich. Many systems out there sound like they are just straining themselves when pumping out the sound but this one doesn't. Great buy if u can afford it, but definitely worth it for under $500.

Strength:

This product has a number of great features, including the look, the CD text option (for compatible discs) and a solid remote control.

Weakness:

The sound quality is just average. The bass response is below average, and I just don't think it sounds very rich. In addition, if you turn it off and on, it seems the bass goes away slightly. You have to press the bass button in one direction or the other to "awaken" the system. It's strange. I also don't like that only certain CDs work with the text option.

This is a pretty decent product. It looks great, no doubt about it. When people come into my bedroom, they always take notice. Unfortunately, the sound doesn't attract the same attention as the look. It only sound okay. The bass is not very good, and overall the system does not sound rich. I have heard many other less expensive stereos that sound worlds better. It has a number of alarm features, and the lights are very cool at night. This stereo would have been great if Technics had spent more time on the whole reason for the stereo: the sound. In addition, the bass works in a strange way. When you first turn on the stereo, you might notice less bass than when you used it before. After hitting the bass button either up or down it sounds better. This stereo is decent, but not worth the Technics asking price.
