Strengths:    Cheap, all-in-one, cool looks, 5.1 Dolby Digital Ready, Can really shake my room with my added sub. This system rocks

Weaknesses:    When using my Sony DVD with 5.1 decoder, if the system is turned up too loud, it "clicks" in and out. Really anoying. Other than that, no problems

Bottom Line:
This is a great system and I recommmed it to younger buyers with a smaller room to fill up.

Strengths:    The price, clarity and looks

Weaknesses:    Remote control

Bottom Line:
I listened to a few AIWA models, a couple of Sony’s and a couple of JVCs (mostly 5-speaker DPL). The AIWA, Sony and JVC all had the same general sort of 'sound type' with the JVC being best of these lot. The SONY had a different feel to its overall sound. It had a sound clarity that appeared to me as more of a pricey, high-end separate system. Although I am not Audiophile, although I should say that I have good ears for good and original music, I am sure that with this system you will hear all the treble, violins, trumpets and female vocals than various others similar systems. SONY do have noticeably more detail than the others. It appeared to be better for all types of music (especially classical) except perhaps for things along the lines of rap. The Hall DSP mode is very good and with it the real bass or treble pops out though the FM tuner doesn't pull in weak signals as well as a separates tuner.
The remote control could have been better and for the real rocking deep bass I had to add a sub-woofer. Overall I am happy with the system fo the price I paid for it.

Strengths:    Has 5.1 ready inputs, sound quality and price. Even without a tuner, a home theatre can be setup with this unit

Weaknesses:    Does not have built-in digital decoder

Bottom Line:
Has excellent sound quality and is ideal for setting up a home theatre at reasonable price.
