Strengths:    play exchange, great sound, inputs/outputs

Weaknesses:    none

Bottom Line:
I've had my eye on this system for over a year, but had to get a job to get it. It is the absolute best mini system that I have ever listened to. incredible highs and mids: bass is great but only down to 70Hz . Oh well, I'm going to buy a sub by the end of the month anyway. speakers are extremely accurate, even at very high volume levels. very pleased overall.

Overall I am pleased I purchased this product and I am very happy with it. Although I thought It was expensive once I realised the quality of the sound and the sytem overall i was astounded.A truly astounding stereo.Would have been better without a tape deck and instead a built in minisc recorder and player.

Strengths:    Powerfull sound, good bass, great tape recording, good looking, enough features

Weaknesses:    Cannot rewind on any tape while another source is playing (frustrating during a party); some functions on remote only, others only on system; awful looking spectrum analizer; cannot change radio stations directly, just sequential; 5 CD's but only 32 tracks programable; when trying to store a radio station, RDS display gets over the preset number you want to store on; clock and timer are lost in case of a power failure (preset stations last for half a day); not enough data about speakers (bass reflex port resonant frequency, frequency range with dB level, etc.)

Bottom Line:
Sony NX1 is a realy great system, especially considering the stupid looking simmilar products on the market (even from SONY). It looks good in any environment and does not have stupid lights on it. It has everything you need for a home mini system, including the equaliser with 15 presets (not so useful) and 5 personal files. The sound is really powerful, with good bass and enough high frequency sounds. The speakers are realy heavy and are doing their job very well, even though the membrane diameter is only 11.5 cm. I had it playing with a Sony subwoofer which realy didn't help at all. NX1 has all the bass you need. The bass reflex port is pretty noisy however. Recording on tape is very good, in case somebody does care about tapes anymore.

It has however some stupid design flaws, which I realy did not expect from SONY.

In my opinion the system is realy great for normal home use. For parties however, even though the sound it powerful and the amplifier does not clip at maximum volume, if you intend to play various sources, some difficulties will be very anoying (problems on rewinding tapes and long CD change time).
