Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $200.00 from second hand from a friend

Summary:
please, please anyone with a copy of the instruction manual e-mail me at dukedge@hotmail.com . i never recieved an instruction manual to learn the finer points of operating this fine system. i have only a couple of questions to ask.

Strengths:
remote control unit, very good FM reception, excellent sound with great base for playing dub reggae, plays cd-rw's with no problems. i have spent twice as much on a product that was half as good in the past.

Weaknesses:
cd skips quite easily

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Slovakia

Summary:
Given the price I have paid (in a sell-out) it is a very useful and cute unit. Nicely designed, it has a certain high-end flair in it.
The sound is very smooth, actually it lacks the treble and resolution. It's sweet for jazz or chamber music but tends to get messy with complex signals like rock/pop or classical especially on low volume levels. If you turn it up a bit, it gets better at the cost of increased distortion.
So it's not high fidelity, but it sounds, ehm, "musical".
The tuner needs a good aerial, the deck plays surprisingly well and features Dolby B.
You are advised to use the supplied "high-endish" CD stabilizer although I doubt it can replace a proper clamp.
Anyway, what would you expect at this price tag ?

Strengths:
Design, price.

Weaknesses:
Track skipping in CD Player slow.

Review 3 of 5

Summary:
This Sony unit is awesome. It has inputs/outputs for expansion (great bonus: optical out). Plus it has a huge sound stage for such a small unit. It produces a great clean sound that can definitely fill a bedroom. The added bonus is that unit is VERY attractive. And to top it off, the included remote just makes this unit a knock-out! I highly recommend this unit vs. any of the mini systems out there. I bought this unit for under $250 (shipping already included!) and at that price it is second to NONE!

Strengths:
Small compact unit, atttractive, awesome sound, great bang for the buck.

Weaknesses:
None

Similar Products Used:
Aiwa, Denon, Panasonic, JVC

Review 5 of 5

Summary:
I have high end systems, middle end systems, home theater, but wanted something just for the bedroom. So I bought the Sony CMT-ED1 the other day at my favorite high end shop. I could have bought this at a budget place, but ended up getting a better deal at the shop I go to for high end stuff. What I like about this setup it has a cd player, tape deck, tuner and some extra stuff like extended bass, wide dispersion, or even a dispersion for up close listening near one's bedside. The speakers attach or can be separated from the unit. What amazed me was the sound coming from this set up when I played some of my cd's. My favorite feature is that it has a sleep timer and clock. You can set the sleep timer on not only the tuner, but also the cd playback and tape. For me that is great because I usually never make it through a Pink Floyd, Moody Blues cd. So if you don't mind spending a few bucks and just want something for the bedroom that you wont trip over, I like this unit alot.
