Philips patented wOOx Technology ensures superior bass results. The dual suspension bass radiator, together with dedicated amplifier circuitry, is especially designed to produce and handle high dynamic sound signals at very low frequencies. Because of the dual suspension, the excursion of the membrane can be extreme (see illustration). This is in combination with the symmetrical sandwich construction, provides for very low and precise bass without noticeable distortion. The net effect of using wOOx Technology is a tight bass sound that is significantly ""lower and louder"" than conventional mini shelf systems.

from Craigslist Summary: Just got this player from a very nice girl from Craigslist. It is 2 years old but works perfect! The sound is rich and loud and its also great on low sound levels for sleeping to. For the price I payed I am the happiest man in the world! Strengths: It's LOUD! Looks sweet! Weaknesses: I can't get it to stay off. It seems to turn itself back on...

Review 2 of 5
Price Paid:
$220.00
from Dixons (UK) Summary: First of I have have to agree with the previous 3 reviews. This has gotta be the best stereo I have ever had. Does everything I wanted it to do when I purchased it. Superb bass, no distortion and high end volume, super highs and perfect clarity of sound. The reproductions are perfect and to me the stereo is stylish. The 6.5" w00x driver performs well under heavy bass lined songs along with the mid range perform just as well. The modes on the stereo include clock, alarm, loads of sounds presets and 6 personal settings which can have names defined for them. You can alter bass/treble and the amplifier is clever, altering bass and volume is increased to stop distortion. All in all, this is a true performer with ANY style of music. Shame I'm letting mine go :(. Trying not to leave you on a bad note but I've opted for seperates as they will deliver 6.1 sound, which the FW-C85 can not, but then it's a 2 Channel Stereo so I'm not complaining. Basically if you're after a $hithot stereo that can annoy the neighbours no sweat, then get this!!!! Strengths: Hard hitting accuratre bass line, amazing treble and prefect reproduction of sound. Weaknesses: None Similar Products Used: Philips FW-C700 (same spec as the FW-C80, i think it replaced it!)

Price Paid:
$80.00
from CD/Game Exchange Summary: I remember the day I bought it, as soon as I seen it in the store I asked them to plug it up. I NEVER heard the radio sound so good. I immediatly caught a cab home with it, and have been satisfied ever since. I do beats/production and needed a good alternative to costly studio monitors at the time, so this was PERFECT. At first I was trippin off the wOOx bass boost, but even without it the bass is rich and thick. Im so used to this setup im cautious of getting monitors now. Strengths: Crutial bass resonance and real/nothing too much or taken away from sound. Very close to studio monitor quality speakers. POWERFULL. Weaknesses: Cracks in the walls of my apartment from crankin it up too high, my fault, not Philips. Similar Products Used: Numark M1 monitor speakers

from David Jones Summary: I have had this stereo for two years straight, and have had not one problem.
The sound is very clear and precise, even when cranked up to the max you will notice no distortion as it will automatically adjust the sound to its limit so you dont blow the speakers.
6 Virtual Environments, positions the sound very acuratly, and unlike other two speaker 3d sound systems this one can actually make the sound sound like it is behind you. Love the personal presets you can actually type in your own names for it. Dysplay is dimmable. And built in Clock and Allarm clock makes it nice to wake up to. Reliabilty is of very good quality. Other radios i have had with subs built in started rateling after a few months. But this one just keeps going. 150watts RMS x2 top fiering 6.5inch woox, 6.5" woofer 1 2.5" fluid ferite tweeter and 2 myler on angles to enable virtual sound. 6ohm impedance only found in high end systems and philips. Strengths: Too many. Strong Bass, no distortion, extreem quality. Full Function Remote Controll. Weaknesses: Cracks in beedroom walls, Speakers dance on my tv cabenet when turned up. Similar Products Used: Philips FW-C870 Same but differnt speakers
