Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $900.00 from Megamart

Summary:
Great sound and picture, good looks, easy to use.

Strengths:
Five CD changer, excellent control of the surround sound, field and quality. Big bass...

Weaknesses:
Slow CD changer. No way to output quality sound. No microphone input on non-karaoke versions of the system. The super woofer is on the side of speakers, so it is hard to position the speakers. The system seems to dislike some types of CDs, on which its buffer sometimes overloads. No problems with DVDs. For some bizzarre reason, Panasonic decided not to include the Karaoke feature for distribution in western countries. Some features cannot be controlled from remote control, e.g. playing all tracks on all disks.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $404.00 from PCRush.com

Summary:
This is one fantastic mini-shelf system. The SC-DK10 is able to play DVD, DVD-R (yes, DVD-R created on a Mac), CD-R, CD-R/W, VCD and MP3 CDs! The unit can has Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic decoders. Alas, it cannot decode DTS or play SACD discs. However, with normal CD and MP3 discs, the Dolby Pro Logic sound is wonderfully recreated in all of its five speakers. Video and audio DVD play, especially, it Dolby Digital encoded, is wonderful and clear. I like the fact, the it has a dialogue enhancer option (center speaker dedicated to voice) so that dialogue doesn't get drowned out by music and special effects sound. The unit is easy to setup and use. The large electronic display panel is very useful. The remote layout is easy top use but lacks night light.

Strengths:
Relative small, sleek and compact; 5-disc changer; plays DVD, DVD-R, CD-R, CD-R/W, & MP3; good speakers.

Weaknesses:
Only one auxilliary audio input and it is RCA type connection; no digital input or output; relatively slow disc changer.

Similar Products Used:
