Summary:
I bought the mini system as an introduction into the world of Hi Fi as I cannot afford a whole host of separates. I have paired the system with a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 bookshelf speakers. Out the box the system was easy to setup and under 10 minutes I had music playing. I was a little dubious when the store assistant insisted that there would be a burn in time. He was correct! At first the system sounded harsh at any level above 50% volume. After about two weeks the sound started improving markably. Now that the system is settled I am more aware of its advantages and short-comings. Pushed hard it makes disturbing popping sounds through the speakers (as if it were pushing straight current through). Quick adjustment of the volume and everything returns to normal.

The main limitation with the system is that it cannot drive to higher SPL levels. So make sure the room you want to use it in is not too big. A bedroom or study is perfect. It does also have a few quirks... The one that irritates the most is the fact that it takes 3 seconds to display RDS information. Then as soon as it reaches a station without RDS information it defaults back to the no info display. This is irritating when you switch back to an RDS enabled station. The volume does also crackle sometimes. Nothing serious but its there...

If you are looking for a foot into the mid to hi-fi audio market then the NAD C715 is perfect.

I have since moved the system to the bedroom as I managed to get some affordable seperates on the second hand market.

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
