Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $410.00

Summary:
Kenwood HTB-504 - this is one to get! Subwoofer is very powerful, its bass will literally shake the house. DVD's sound incredible with Dolby Digital 5.1. Be sure to buy a fiber optic cable which is not included, and if you get a monster cable you have to take the transparent plastic off both ends (took me awhile to figure that out). Don't use any of the wires that came with the system. They are of very poor quality. To get the most out of your system, buy some monster speaker cables and replace the subwoofer cable as well. It is a small investment that will drastically improve performance. I am very satisfied with this model. If you are looking for a home theater in a box, but not sure which one is best, i recommend the Kenwood HTB-504. I read about it at consumerreports.com, then came here and have read nothing but good reviews.

Strengths:
Powered subwoofer, remote control is well designed, easy to use, easy to set up, powerful system, thunderous bass, great price

Weaknesses:
cheap speaker wires, no component inputs, remote does not light up.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $380.00 from sears

Summary:
GREAT system, you get the same sound of a BOSE but you don't have to go broke to get one, and c'mon who really wants to pay over $1000.00 for a HT??. I got awesome sound at a great price. Isn't that what your really are looking for anyway?? I think you are. Top notch sound, and a bargain. In any case, the htb 504 is the best place to start your home theater. I got mine last 6/2001 and hooked it up to my JVC 32' color tv. I love the surround sound, even the commercials sound alive! Jurasic park III(on dvd)WOW, just like the theater, you FEEL the dinosurs foot steps shaking the floor. GREAT sound! Listen to other systems first, then check out the htb 504. Sears will match any web-site price, I found mine for $380.00 on the web I went to sears and I paid $380.00. My only gripe are the rear speakers and speaker wire. I will upgrade the speakers eventually, I already changed the wire. Go to radioshack and get 16 guage speaker wire. cheap. Big difference in sound.

Strengths:
with out a doubt the sub-woofer,sound clairity, all features.

Weaknesses:
fuhgeddaboutit.
