Review 1 of 4

Summary:
Don't get it if you have to pay over $600!

Strengths:
Extremely handsome, very nice layout, aluminum finish on front panel and speakers. Intereseting MD remote design (with flip-out keyboard). Sounds ok.

Weaknesses:
System is constantly hot even at off. Also, 3 cd changer is very fragile (mine has an alignment problem). MD is a first generation product, so lacks consistency.

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer Lifestyle NS-5 component system

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $900.00

Summary:
A nice and compact unit with decent power output and wonderful aesthetics. It is very easy too record mds and connect to audio or video sources.

Strengths:
The unit looks fantastic with its mini-separates and metallic facias. The sound is rich at low and high volume. The md remote is one of the easiest I've seen. The auto-on feature is great. Unlike most cheaper units today, the JVC EX-MD90 is made in Japan.

Weaknesses:
The cd player has no ff or rw while in play mode.

Similar Products Used:
JVC FS-D88 (also own) and Sony minis.

Review 3 of 4

Summary:
Overall not bad for the price. The machine however is hot even after you turn off the machine (probably power is still used by the transformer) - and I find it disturbing esp. in a hot summer day.

The sound is acceptable given this is only a mini even when playing classical music.

A Sony mini

Review 4 of 4

Summary:
I ordered the system with the optional tape deck and it works well. Although it is cassified as a micro-system when you put all the components together it is larger than I expected. The sound is very good although you must use a seperate component amp to drive the subwoofer that is built into the speaker. I was surprised you could not program all three cd trays for dubbing into the MD. You must program disc by disc. I guess I was spoiled by my CD carausell.
System looks awesome and sounds very good. I picked up my system for $500 including the tape deck

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
