Review NaN of , from Houston

Price Paid:  $79.00 from Egghead - refurbished

Summary:
Got this unit to stick in the corner of computer room, and hooked the computer output to it through one of two input jacks. Excellent way to listen to MP3's, etc. Find the remote to be small and useful. Can access and change most features from it. Good sound quality at all volumes. Modest but adequate bass for a unit this size. Speaker connection seems unduly detailed, and the effect of having seperate subwoofer system not clear. Does not appear to play computer recorded .wav files, or other CD-R formats. Good radion reception in both AM and FM modes, and easy to change bands and channels from the remote. Have not been bothered by the delay in the playback when shifting CD tracks with direct mode that some other reviewers have reported. I am either not attuned to it, or my unit does not do this.

Strengths:
Relatively small - good remote - many features

Weaknesses:
no noise reduction on tape player

Review NaN of , from Winnipeg, Mb, Canada

Price Paid:  $174.00 from Visions electronics

Summary:
When I first saw this item, I thought it was kind of plain and ugly, but it grew on me, and now I really like the chrome, grey and wood combination, along with it's small size and classy look.
I Really like the optical and analog outputs for recording to Mini Disc. The look of the XR-M55 is simple and the remote also simple (It does't have a million buttons) Plus the display is small enough and can be dimmed so my room feel like a light show at night.
When I purchased the product, and then did a search on the web and saw that people bought this item at prices ranging from $99.00 to $200.00, I practally had a heart attack and returned the item, as I had paid (after taxes and warrenty) $400. But, when I calmed down enough and figured out the american amount, plus took off the amount for a 5 year warrenty and the 14% tax (awful amount, isn't it?)I paid about $174 american base price.

Strengths:
Nice and small, Excelent sound, Kinda classy. Is simple to use one you get used to it, and It doesn't have a major light show every time you press a button, like some other systems. This product also has Analog and optical digital outputs for my MiniDisc, which I was very happy about.

Weaknesses:
If you skip songs on CD's, It cuts off the first second or two, which is kind of annoying if you know all the starts to the songs.

Review NaN of , from California

Summary:
besides the problem with the CD player cutting off 1/2
second, there is another flaw;
The headphone jack on my unit does not output low frequency
sounds. Probably has to do the the bi-amplification.
Let me know if you have this problem.
Everything else works fine.

Strengths:
good sound, looks, features

Weaknesses:
see below
