Strength:

USB support. Powered woffer input. Aux line for MP3. Digital coax line. Smooth remote. Great for bedroom with multiple sleep and wake settings.

Weakness:

No cassette? Big deal. Station presetting is a bit unwieldly. Once you have them in though who cares?

A perfect little system. We use it in our bedroom. The multi day wake function is ideal for an alarm. The system provides enough features to keep you busy and is expandable enough to have anywhere in your home. The USB support is ideal. Having a cable modem or DSL allows you to set this baby up for internet radio. Run a USB line to it and you can have uninterrupted streaming music 24/7. There are VERY few systems out there today that provide this and when they do the price is prohibitive for most of us. The system has plenty of sound for its size. Its quality is solid, firm construction. There is actually steel used in its construction. The front is very stylish and will not go out of style. A beautiful combination of techno with cool blues and reds in the display. CD is lit up with a nice neon blue. Very calming and asthetic.

Strength:

Best looking executive mini system for the price. Brushed aluminum finish. Uncluttered simple design with all the features you could possibly want. Well made speakers. High quality construction, shallow footprint. Great Sound.

Weakness:

No Bass or treble controls, only 3 preset tone settings.

Perfect for my cubical at work. USB connection is just what I needed because my company computer doesn't have a sound card. FM tuner pulled in all local stations using a $10 Terk FM antenna. CD's sound awesome on this little unit.

Considered Nakamichi Soundspace 1(too expensive), and Denon D-A03 (ugly compared to the DW-500)

Strength:

Great styling, very good sound, and solidly built components

Weakness:

Not the loudest system in the world

I just received this mini-system recently, and it is fairly impressive for the size and price. In addition, it looks really great; everyone who passes by my office makes a comment about how nice the system sounds AND looks. The two speakers are nicely constructed, and have a pleasant, if not somewhat warm, sound. Fortunately, the system has a few of different settings for enhancing the sound (there are no bass or treble controls, just three settings of Audio Presence). But, they sound much more crisp and deep when set to the middle option for Audio Presence. The receiver/cd player is very cool looking, and has a vertical sliding door to load/unload CDs. The FM/AM tuner works great, and the system can autoset all 30 of the preset stations automatically. Pretty basic remote, could be improved, but it works from across my office, and that's all it needs to do.
