Review NaN of , from Saint Rose, LA USA

Price Paid:  $375.00 from www.computability.com

Summary:
This unit provides fine resolution at both SP and EP speeds. Tapes recorded from other units look clean when played on the Toshiba.
The remote is good, but not great. The menus have odd descriptions for their functions. It is easy to set the timer.
My only complaint is that the playback picture appears somewhat faded as compared to the original when recording from cable and satellite. The playback image appears good but not as vibrant as it appears on my JVC or Panasonic. So, I usually take the tapes recorded on the Toshiba and play them back using the JVC or the Panasonic.
If it weren't for this, I would probably buy Toshiba again.
I prefer my JVC's regular VHS picture to the Toshiba. As such, I do not recommend this Toshiba.

Weaknesses:
Playback picture noticeably paler than original when recording off cable/satellite.

Review NaN of , from Tampa FL USA

Summary:
this machine plays movies excellent, especially when I am playing star wars first episode on the pod action, seems like dvd almost, except for teh thx sound... excellent pause, X2 you can hear sound still.
has front video inputs, plays very very well on my sony theater receiver in prologic mode, and sound is clear with not much hiss.
recording movies is also very excellent when recording off of my digital box, the picture is still beautiful at playback with no static, etc. just very clear. beautiful VCR and hope to buy more toshiba products soon when they come out with the new digital VCR.
only thing is that the face color does not match my other equipment but oh well! I give this products props up!

Strengths:
Beautiful still picture without any jumping around or static.

Weaknesses:
slow motion should be a continous instead of stop/play/stop/play if you knwo what I mean with sound.

Review NaN of , from Fort Worth, TX USA

Summary:
The Toshiba M784 is my second favorite VCR. I went to the Good Guys and compared about 10 VCRs on a 13" screen and the JVC 9600(s-vhs player)was the best VCR playing VHS tapes. I thought the Toshiba player was better than all the Sony, Panasonic, and Mitsubishi players. The best part about the M784 is how it plays older tapes.

Strengths:
Great picture on VHS

Weaknesses:
I wish it played S-VHS tapes without the annoying horizantal line running through it.

Summary:
Overall a great VCR. I got mine as a demo from Goodguys for $280 with a 2 year extended. Records great. The only thing I don't like is no 4hr record only 2 or 6.
