Review 1 of 9

Summary:
I am happy AS A clam with this vcr, I always wanted something that was beyond the typical vcr, I wanted STEREO AND SIX HEADS or more, but when i saw the prices on the high end vcrs I was out of the game($500.00) this was in the 300.00 when it first came out, as luck would have it just before the four day weekend the good guys had a clearence sale and the m765 was 129.99 +tax, mine was 160.+ with a 1 year extended wnty. I now look foward to the 785 or higher for christmast

Strengths:
The remote control, is the first one I ever owned that actually controls everything but the stereo rec.
the sound is outstanding I used a brand new copy of APOCALYPSE NOW to test the quality of product. it passed with flying colors.
recording of DSS, no problem. recording of regular tv as long as you have reception the picture and sound will be very good, in this case I tape the three stooges marathon of the local station not carry by DTV; the black and white was sharp.
The users manual was "user friendly",

Weaknesses:
None that I have discover

Review 4 of 9

Summary:
Overall the worst purchase in a year of $7000+ worth of A/V purchases.

The picture is in unremarkable. 6 heads?? Whatever I can't tell any difference and the Magnavox is 4 years old.

Sound is muffled and dead.

Forget recording. There will be a large green band on the screen if you ever want to watch what you recorded and if you want to take it in to the Toshiba service center, they will keep the VCR for two months and think you're weird because you didn't wait to hear back from them.

I hope my case was not represenative of most but given the good products being put out by ither manufacturers I will not be ourchasing from Toshiba AGAIN!!

Strengths:
NADA!

Weaknesses:
Green line, poor picture & sound, Toshiba servce centers and Toshiba phone represenatives

Similar Products Used:
Magnavox

Review 5 of 9

Summary:
I cannot recommend this product to anyone, especially if you have to use a cable box. The set up procedure is cumbersome at best (and I am an avid reader of manuals). The manual is of little help, it pretty much only repeats the onscreen prompts. I am in the process of returning this unit (bought it on the net). I have decided to force tune my old Mitsu (doesn't recognize year 2000) untl something better comes along. Am spending the money on a new DVD player instead.
If tis product did all the things it claims to do in the brochure it would be a great VCR. Shame on Toshiba for putting out such a defect riden product.

Strengths:
None that I could find, except price less than $150 delivered.

Weaknesses:
Ghastly setup with my cable box. Picture no better than my 15 yo Mitsubishi. Onscreen info would not disappear while viewing tapes or watching TV. Sound only fair at best. And a varuety of other problems.

Similar Products Used:
Ancient Mitsubishi circa 1985

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
