Review 1 of 2

Summary:
Overall, I am not happy with the performance or durability of this VCR. I bought the Phillips/Magnavox about 3 years ago and replaced it about 6 month ago with a JVC, which by the way I am satisfied with. The tuner in the VCR creates a buzzing sound when the cable runs through it, so I was unable to watch quality TV with the cable running through the VCR. The eject mechanism has failed so bad that I kept a butter knife by the VCR just to get the tape out. There are much better quality VCR's on the market for the money.

Strengths:
Looks nice

Weaknesses:
Poor sound out of tuner. Bad eject mechanism. Below average remote

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
this vcr has performed as well as it should, right now it is having a problem with the record heads but that can be explained: not enough cleaning on my part!
it gets used to record about 4 hrs per week for over 4 yrs

i have not had any tape eject problems like other reviewers have said they had with other philips magnavox vcrs

the only time there is a problem is when the kids yank the
tape out too quickly

Strengths:
works like a basic hifi vcr should

Weaknesses:
none

Similar Products Used:
other basic hifi vcrs

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
