from Bay/Bloor Radio Summary: I bought this unit in September 2000, and it has been a very reliable player. As I mentioned in my review for the PV4520, I don''t do a lot of recording, I use this VCR to play pre-recorded tapes. I have recorded on this VCR a couple of times, and the picture is very clear, not grainy. I wanted to get a player that had the best heads possible, because I plan on keeping this VCR for a long time. The only drawback that I can think of when I purchased this unit was that the auto-head cleaner was very noisy. After pressing stop on the machine, there would be this grinding noise-I thought the unit was defective, but it turned out to be the auto-head cleaner at work. The other drawback to the auto-head cleaner is that in time it gets dirty, which causes the heads to get clogged even if the heads are cleaned. The service centre I go to stated that they just remove the head cleaner & don''t replace it when it gets too dirty-claimed that it''s not worth it. Other than this, I am very happy with this player. It was very hard to find this model, but it has been well worth the money. Strengths: Excellent picture, made in Japan, Dynamorphous heads Weaknesses: Auto-head cleaner, was not on website for Panasonic.ca during it''s production year-very hard to find. Similar Products Used: PV4520 VCR, Panasonic VCR circa 1982 (can''t remember model #)
