Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $699.00 from Correct consumer ele

Summary:
It's a very nice recorder with excellent image quality. I use the VCR side sporadicaly, because of the ease of the HD-side. Price is in Euro's, not Dollars

Strengths:
Being able to watch a recording while recording it. Weekly programming so you'll never miss your favourite programs.

Weaknesses:
No digital in or out. The product has got teething problems : Poor editing capabilities. Editing can't be done on a frame to frame basis, there is always a difference in the frames you choose to edit and the frames that get recorded on the tape. No rec-pause capabilities in HD mode except on the dub channel (Why). Its not possible to use the navigation menu nor the ability to browse through the recording while you are recording a timer program. There is quite a long lag between pressing the record button in Hd-mode and the recording actually starting (~10 sec). It isn't possible to edit a HD recording without putting it on tape and then recording it back to the HD. HD keeps on whirring when the VCR is on standby with a VPS-timer programmed.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $1230.00 from Tech Pacific

Summary:
This VCR offers functionality that makes you wonder how you ever did without it! To come in mide way through a recording and be able to watch the start while continuing to record is life changing! To pause live TV when the phone rings is similarly amazing. Pictorial representation of recordings, instant access, superb FF and Rewind. 11 hours of *(DVD) quality recording are all features that even DVDR can't match and certainly not regular VCR. Problem is that the record quality on hard drive is less than impressive when the picture is busy or fast moving. Moving mask effect, most noticeable on faces and severe grain spoil an otherwise excellent picture. Why no I-link for Digital Camera recording JVC?

Strengths:
Superb functions and features. Great SVHS (Tape) recordings. Can change sattelite decoder channels for timer recordings. Good picture quality from hard drive if source does not contain fast motion.

Weaknesses:
Poor quality hard drive recordings - even in short play mode if picture is fast moving i.e sports No I-link interface for Digital Cameras.
