Summary:
I've been a fan of Hitachi HiFi VCR's
and TV's for years. This is the third
Hitachi HiFi VCR unit I have owned,
and it is living up to my
expectations. Excellent picture and
sound qualities make this a great
choice for a home theater setup. The
jog on both the unit and the remote
are handy for checking out a scene
again. The rewind is very fast. It
can rewind a tape in 90 seconds. I
just love the feel and operation of
the illuminated remote. The 19 EP
heads do a good job of extending
recording times. The 625 is near the
top of the Hitachi line, so expect to
pay more than mid-line models. Having
the jog on the remote is worth the
extra cost involved. My only complaint is that the front AV jacks are behind a
door which will be sticking out very
unattractively if you use the imputs.
But if you don't use them much anyway,
then this door could be a plus. This
VCR is loaded probably with more
features than you will ever need...but
its nice that they are there. Check
this one out before you buy anything
else.

Strengths:
Build quality. Nice remote. Special
effects.

Weaknesses:
Front AV imputs are behind door.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
