Price Paid:  $105.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
This Sony DVP-NC675P DVD player has a security feature that distorts the picture if it is connected through a VCR. I did not read how to connect it since it only needs power and an RCA cable for R/L and video. The trouble shooting section did not mention the security feature and the people at Circuit City didn't know about it. I described the picture rolling, fading in and out, having digital blemishes, and changing from color to back and white at random to Sony's service department. Sony's repair center mailed back my DVD player without the original shipping material that I sent it in, stating:

"Estimate declined."

That was it. Later I found that it was because I connected it thru a VCR but the customer service at Sony sucked!

Strengths:
Price, Brand, Style

Weaknesses:
Won't play some standard DVDs if it is connected through a VCR, Terrible customer service from Sony

Similar Products Used:
Sony CD players, Sony VCRs, Sony TVs, etc.
