from From a friend Summary: I bought this unit used from a friend of mine and when I first bought it it worked great, but as time went on it started acting up. Now the unit will not play any DVD's unless the planets are aligned and I don't give it dirty looks. Strengths: It's black Weaknesses: Just one...Won't play DVD's.

Price Paid:
$0.00 Summary: This units picture and sound quality are great, however I am disappointed in the overall quality of this unit from Denon. The unit looks cheap, the buttons feel cheap, its made over in China or some sweat shop in Asia now not Japan anymore. Simply put it looks like a DVD player I would buy at Walmart, but it still carries A high price like denon units of the past but without that Denon quality we have come to expect from them. Strengths: Good picture and sound quality. Weaknesses: High price for the units overall quality.Made in a sweat shop in Asia, likely China.

from Soundtrack Summary: When it is new is great, with great pictures and sounds with the right equipment. However, changing to another DVD is very slow and loud. Sounds like something is breaking. After about 6 months it stops playing and the only way to get back is to turn it off and hope the DVD has the program to allow you to jump screens. If you buy, get the warranty. I did and now I will get another model. Strengths: Picture Weaknesses: Stops playing after six months. Changing DVD is way to slow, my CD player changing quicker and it is over 8 years old. from Good Guys Summary: While the picture on the 1815 is nice enough, the disc loading and handling is noisy and very slow. The tray is very flimsy.
Worse, it stopped working completely after only 3 months of light use (discs only load if machine is powered off, then on again after 10 minutes).
I would avoid this unit unless you like getting warranty repairs done. Strengths: Picture and audio quality are acceptable Weaknesses: Everything else. The manual is sketchy and vague. The build quality is very poor, especially from a well respected company like Denon. It feels cheap and flimsy. Similar Products Used: My old Sony progressive scan DVD worked without fail for over 3 years. This piece of junk didn't make it past 3 months.

from Ultimate Electronics Summary: Awesome picture, what a huge diffence the picture is than the Sony 700. A few draw backs ... I would assume since this is a dvd CHANGER that it would move to the next DVD when the current one is finsined ... it only does that for CD's but not DVD's. Also I would assume that a DVD changer would store the titles of the DVD's, it doesn't ... it will only tell you what type of disk is loaded (CD,DVD,KODAK, etc). Strengths: Very nice picture. Weaknesses: Makes a DVD changer useless if you have to search and remind yourself what DVD's are loaded by actually viewing each disk. Also useless if you have to manually change disk after the first one is over. Should be an option for sigle disk repeat or continues play. Similar Products Used: Sony 700
