I purchased a new Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver and needed a quick set of speakers to go with them until I could replenish my A/V budget. I found these speakers at Circuit City on a special for 150.00 and thought what the heck. Now that I have had them for a while, I still want to upgrade to a Klipsch R series set-up, but am in no pressing hurry.
My HT area is a 12x12 room with carpeting and way too many doors and windows, however after letting the Yamaha configure itself to these speakers and playing with the positing a bit I get a very good soundstage and effects placements.
Until I can afford the Klipsch units I want, these are enough to enjoy 6.1 theater sound. Strengths:
Cheap, very decent bass, fair highs, did I mention CHEAP. Weaknesses:
Somewhat muddy mids, definite coloration of the overall sound, cannot buy one rear speaker to utilize my receivers 7.1 capabilities.
