Strength:

Great picture, normal toshiba quality

Weakness:

remote small, not backlit, not easy to use

First of all, the above picture is not of the 2105. The 2105 plays 5 discs. I bought this to upgrade from the SD1209, which I thought was a fantastic DVD player. I wanted to consolidate my DVD/CD players, and keep the same Toshiba quality. This unit does exactly what it's supposed to do, it plays DVD's and Cd's flawlessly. Great picture, better than the old one.

The remote, well, a word about remotes: I consider the quality of units remote to be very important. After all, the remote's what you actually have to use, no one gets up to actually push the buttons anymore. I don't think that companies are placing the importance of quality design into their remotes any more. Important features like backlighting are becoming less and less common. Ease of use is another issue. For example, on the 2105's (non-backlit) remote, in order to FF, you have to hold the button down for nearly 2 seconds! Pain in the A**. Luckily for me, my receiver (Onkyo 595) has a GREAT learning remote that handles nearly all the functions for all my equipment very well, sometimes better than the actual remote. Although it's not backlit either.

Back to the 2105, overall a great 5 disc DVD player, especially at that price point. Toshiba continues to be the leader at giving you the most bang for your buck.
