Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $150.00 from Costco

Summary:
VCD playback is horrible; the player cannot seem to sync the audio with the video. Sometimes the audio lags the video, sometimes vice-versa.

I've had problems with some DVDs causing the player to lock up when changing layers.

Also, when the player locks up, sometimes the only way to recover is to unplug it from the wall for a few seconds (sometimes when it locks up, none of the buttons work... not even the power button).

The only good thing about this DVD player was the MP3 playback (although a shuffle function for MP3 would be nice). I've had no problems playing MP3s from both 650MB & 700MB CDRs.

Strengths:
MP3 playback

Weaknesses:
Bad VCD playback, bad layer transitioning, unrecoverable lock ups.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $300.00 from wholesaler of Hong Kong... Dai Cheong Hong

Summary:
After bad dreams from DV-900 , the worst DVD player I ever met, it nearly look like blind, so many discs it couldn't read, and, got poorest resolution in video --especially in fast moving objects , it had to be replaced 4 times ut still got the same results. Finally, I need to paid $50 more for up-grading to this DV1000.
Comparing to other brands of players, it won't be better (even comparing to those players which cost only 1/2 price of it).
" If you want to get a dvd player ? Stay away from TEAC... " Thats' what I can say.

Strengths:
The one I got did has DTS, AC3 surround sounds......WHY ?

Weaknesses:
Really lacks of features

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $600.00 from Ljudbutiken

Summary:
It even beats the Luxman D-355 sound. It has, compared to luxman, better stereoseparation and more details. Teac will blow away the h/k hd720 easily. h/k midrange is metallic and not at all musical. Teac plays Music that is as balm to the ears, and contains all important details.

Strengths:
Excellent 2-channel sound. Warm, musical. A little rounded treble.

Weaknesses:
Lacks of features. No Dolby Digital or DTS decoder. Looks like it would cost half the price.

Similar Products Used:
Luxman D-355(CD-player)
harman/kardon HD 720 (CD-player)

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
