Summary:
Now its my turn to provide some comments for others to evaluate. I have relied on this page for many opinions for about the last year. Thank you to all that have written. It is exciting to be the first review with a new product. Actually this is a 2004 product, but the box only allowed for a 2003 option. Here goes...

I purchased this product because its performance was compelling. Pirates of the Carribbean was a visual and listening treat! I compared on on both the 1040 and the 1050. The 1050 just sparkled in comparison. Picture was better, but the sound just was alive in comparison to the 1040. I have a Rotel RCD 971, and was also wondering how well the CD performance of the 1050 would be? Apparently, I have never heard my CD music collection before. The detail and the nuances were significantly improved over the 971. The 1050 was just in another class of sound. My main speakers are Def Tech BP 2000s, center a smaller version, and for the rears full range smaller DTs. The value of this product is excellent for the dollar. Its operation is straightforward, and the features are understandable and appear easy to use.

I tested the product with some DVDs that hadn't seen much use because their sound was boring with my Denon 3000, but the 1050 made the viewing and listening experience riveting. Any scene with depth really exhibited distance and clarity. I recommend the 1050 over the 1040.

Strengths:
High value, crisp picture, and quality sound. Remote is good and features plentiful.

Weaknesses:
None to mention.
