Review NaN of , from Pasig, Metro Manila Philippines

Summary:
My excitement for the product crashed down when I could not turn the machine on. When it did work, the machine was ok, nothing to write home about, but when it failed to just turn it on, my disappointment with the product and also the manufacturer grew to a point that I will discourage all my friends from buying this dishonest company.
Here's my story. I took this less then a year old DVD to their service center, and come to find out that this is very normal for all the pioneer dvds, according to service technician. The problem is the tiny ic chip on the power board that blows up all the time. He told me that they fix these babies at least once a week and only way to fix it is to replace the whole board, which cost over $100 us dollars. The manufacturer says only thing that is wrong is that tiny ic chip, which can not be replaced, so only way to fix it is to leave your dvd with them and have them fix it, at of course very high labor rate. They won't even sell you the power board. I would not mind having it fixed, but not knowing what caused it first, (the guy at the shop said it was a design problem, which i agree. I have had many different hi-fi over twenty year, and this is my first, ... and last pioneer), I am not going to shell out over $100 bucks and have it go brok on me. I am going to try to contact the main service manager at pioneer in philippines or singapore or tokyo, and try to get my money back. Any of you who has had the same problem, please e-mail me. You know what is worse, is that the guy from the shop told me that the latest dvd, the second and third generation dvds from the pioneer has the same power board and the problems have not gone away, so before you go out and buy one, make sure you check.
Hmmm, other then that, not a bad machine, .... if you can turn it on.

Strengths:
Sleek looks and versatility

Weaknesses:
Reliability

Review NaN of , from Quezon City, Philippines

Summary:
I find this machine satisfactory, for you can watch DVD great movies and if you want to sing change your mode to Karaoke, what a nice idea for a player with such versatility. And if you're really a couch-potato person just load on 3 of your favorite movie or karaoke disc then just seat for hours to watch or sing your favorite tunes.
Video is Good nice colors thru animation mode, nice contrast thru cinema mode. It is good via S-video out but it could be much better via component out(this is needed if you owned a TV with such input. And the audio? No problemo Mpeg, Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS make your choice. And your worry-free if the most awaited DVD audio disc is out in the market. I've heard the DVD-audio disc has a 96/24 bit rate, once again no problemo in this machine for it is capable playing audio at this 96/24 bit rate. But I have good news for you fellas, cause Pioneer just released a DVD player similar thru this one but much better for it has a component video output and a video noise reduction function. the Pioneer DV-K302C it is availble in the Asian market today.

That's all folks. Hi to the staff of Audioreview.com. Great site

Strengths:
96/24 audio capability, DTS out, 3disc playability, Karaoke mode function

Weaknesses:
A way to turn off karaoke function thru remote, remote could be better if it has a backlit option, no component out

Review NaN of , from Dubai

Summary:
I have been using this player for over 8 months and the performance has been disappointing, especially in the karaoke mode. I contacted Pioneer regarding the unusual noise generated by the karaoke circuitry. Pioneer replied that this was the expected performance of the player considering its moderate price. Any buyers for my DVD player???

Strengths:
Multiple DVD playable and moderately priced.

Weaknesses:
Annoying noise when karaoke mode is selected. Digital crackling noise appears suddenly while playing an audio CD, which can be reset only by cycling the power switch. No optical coaxial output in karaoke mode.

None

Review NaN of , from NY

Summary:
Good overall player for the karoaker in you.

Strengths:
All the features you want except component out. plays ALL formats.

Weaknesses:
Karoake biased player. Getting up off your comfy seat to turn the karoake mode off is annoying. But once done, you can set the condition memory to have the settings stay the same the next time you play the movie. YES, the sound seems to be delayed!!! what's with that? get's really noticeable on the punch scenes in The Matrix

Review NaN of , from hanoi, SRV

Summary:
This product might be 1st dvd charger in the market. Pioneer's done a good job, except one thing that the karaoke mode is on any time you turn on the player, and you can not turn it off by the remote. With some DVDs, sound seems to be delayed.

Strengths:
3 disk changer, dts digital out, 2 audio analog outs, picture modes.

Weaknesses:
karaoke mode is on by default
