Review 1 of 19

Price Paid:  $350.00 from Magnolia HiFi

Summary:
Unit plays most DVDs ok, missing navagation buttons on the front is a mistake. Unit no longer plays CDs. The only thing Pioneer has on their support page is that it's "humidity related." Since the DVDs play and the CDs don't that doesn't seem reasonable. Leaving the unit on overnight playing DVDs and then trying CDs didn't help.

Strengths:
stores 5 DVDs

Weaknesses:
Does not play CDs so you will need a CD player or a DVD player that does.

Review 2 of 19

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
The BBB finally forced Pioneer to act like human beings intent on staying in business. I called them and filed a complaint against Pioneer. 3 weeks later the same a$$hole that had been giving me the run-around for 4 months called me up and in an apologetic tone, offered me a full refund on my purchase. In the end I'm out several rounds of shipping, gas and travel to the nearest authorized service center and months of aggravation. I'm exactly the kind of customer Pioneer wants, I'm a professional with a good income and an audio enthusiast. They could've had a loyal customer, instead they now have a man who wouldn't buy a Pioneer product if they were giving them away for pennies on the dollar. I hate them, I dispise them and will take any opprotunity I can to savage them.

Strengths:
None on the P.O.S.

Weaknesses:
Too numerous to mention, lets start with the fact the damn thing doesn't work.

Similar Products Used:
Nothing similar, everything else is superior.

Review 3 of 19

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I was given the DVD Pioneer DV-C603 as a gift in January 2001. It did not work. Neither the CD or DVD player worked. I returned it immediately and was provided a replacement. The replacement CD player stopped working after approximately eight months, and the store refuses to exchange it without the receipt. I was told by the store rep that the CD player will not play writable discs, that's not the problem, it doesn't play any CD! My son has a Panasonic DVD player for two years and he hasn't had a single problem with his, and it plays writable discs too. (My son thinks the store rep just said that, and this Pioneer is suppose to play any CD.) The store wants me to pay $28+ to send it for repair after less than ten months of use! Also, the nearest service center is 10 miles away. (Which by the way, is important that the readers know what support they will have if they have a problem, and how far it is.) You're dealing with an unstable product with poor support service. It's best to stay clear!! (I'll keep an eye out if the truth is posted! Then I'll know if I should reply on sites like this at all.)

Strengths:
five disc feature

Weaknesses:
unreliable product

Similar Products Used:
Panasonic DVD player

Review 4 of 19

Price Paid:  $240.00

Summary:
Surprised to read many of the negative reviews here. This unit is super quiet, outstanding picture (component out) and sound (optical out)

Strengths:
Picture and sound ...wonderful...with 32" Toshiba TV...not much different than HDTV. Never cared about the bells and whistles anyhow.

Weaknesses:
I suppose the remote could be alot better, but I like it better than previous Proscan's remote.

Similar Products Used:
1 year old crapped out Proscan DVD (no comparison)

Review 5 of 19

Price Paid:  $309.00 from AMDV

Summary:
Well, Pioneer finally made good on their promise to send me a refurbished unit to replace my new one. Guess what? Can you guess what I got in the box those a$$holes sent me? Sure you can guess. I'll give you a hint, its what all Pioneer Service Reps should be when found on the side of the road in a twisted wreck..... that's right. The refurbished replacement they sent me was DOA.

After 3 months of waiting they f***ers sent me a unit that had obviously been boxed for return to the factory. The disk tray was partially opened and taped shut so as to keep it from springing open in transit. Pioneer's not only sick, stupid and sloppy, they're criminal. Next stop... Better Business Bureau. F*** Pioneer!!! May the f***ers rot in hell.

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Too numerous to mention

Similar Products Used:
None, thank God...

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
