Summary:
Please go back one page and scroll down a bit further and post where it lists Pioneer Elite DV-37. I dont know why AudioReview has two listings for the same DVD player:
DV-37 and DV 37. The correct version IS DV-37.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $599.00 from Tweeter

Summary:
The video quality of this unit is outstanding. I have not seen a better picture from any DVD player. I have not seen the progressive video picture as my TV is limited to an interlaced input. But, the picture quality on the interlaced video output is superb!

I have an audiophile quality two channel stereo setup. In this respect, the audio quality of the analog outputs for CD use is only adequate. However, if you know how to tweak your system with cables, you can make up for any deficiencies the player has. Plus, the player has a digital output which allows one to hook the player up to a high quality outboard DAC. This type of set up may be just the set up for those who demand the absolute best in CD sound.

The player will not accept an aftermarket power cord as it does not have a three prong male plug. Too bad, as this would be an excellent way to improve the audio quality of the player.

The exterior finish of the unit is beautiful with its gloss black fascia.

The player appears well built for a mass market player. It is not built to tank like audiophile standards, but it is built to a better standard than most mass market electronics. The chasis is copper shielded and the video and audio section are isolated.

The picture quality of this player is superior to the Denon DVD-2500 that I used to own. The GUI interface was better with the Denon, however. The Denon also had a darker audio presentation, but it was more detailed. The Pioneer is bass shy compared to the Denon, but seems to be more transparent.

All in all, I am jazzed with this player. The video quality is everything I hoped for and I will tweak the sound of the player by making some cable changes until I am satisfied.

Strengths:
Stunning video quality; digital out; exterior finish

Weaknesses:
Average CD audio quality; power cord

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
