Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
The picture is wonderful, as is the audio. Especially, the CD audio. Wow! I think this has to be one of the best CD players ever designed. I own a decent Sony CD player via an optical connection. There's no comparison. As for movies, it's simply great! I've compared it to a lot of these progressive players, and I think this player can hang with the best of them. This is the reason why I haven't wasted my money with a new player. Obviously, blue-ray players are better. In the meantime, I'm happy with it. I would highly recommend this player to anybody. Of course, cables make a huge difference. Don't cut your system short with bad cables. You can find some good deals on Ebay.

Strengths:
Excellent Audio and THX-Certified Video. Progressive scan player? Don't waste your time, or money. If you just want a CD player, you may want to look in to this model. It's fabulous. Construction is good. This is a tank. It has a load of outputs that are all goldplated. It passes any and every signal you can put thru it with many options to choose from.

Weaknesses:
none

Similar Products Used:
Yamaha DVD progressive scan player.

Review NaN of

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Got this unit used about 3 months ago in like new condition. Build quality is serious. CD playback is very impressive. Best I've ever heard in a DVD player. Transport is to die for. DVD play is also impressive, except that the player is very picky. Will not play dirty CDs or DVDs without skipping. Also, despite what others here have said, my unit will not read CDRs. My unit was made in 1999. And yes, the remote is bad. They should have used a backlit model like that on my Pioneer CLD D03 laserdisc player. Despite all of this, the unit is worth every bit of the $500 I paid for it used.

Strengths:
build qulaity, cd and dvd playback, outputs, transport.

Weaknesses:
picky laser, slow tracking, poor remote layout, no progressive scan.

Review NaN of , from Columbus, OH

Price Paid:  $450.00

Summary:
I have had this unit for about 3 months now and am very impressed by the picture quality that it provides. It displays the stunning minute details in the superbit edition of the Fifth Element crisply. Im using a Panasonic 47WX49 HDTV as the monitor and since the DV-09 is not progressive scan, im very curious to see what the picture looks like with a nice external doubler. The half inch thick copper sheild adds weight to the unit but the picture and quiet playback is well worth the bulkyness. This unit also has a video circutry bypass if used as a CD player as well as cd analog outs. I have had one problem with it though....Sometimes during playback the laser picks up the tiniest of imperfections on the discs and freezes for a moment.

Strengths:
True color reproduction
Crisp detail
Simplicity

Weaknesses:
The remote is dreadfully laid out but luckily a universal learning remote can cure that.
