Summary:
I had been looking for a progressive scan dvd player to compliment my new 61" DLP. I tried a lot of players (see list below) and the only one to exceed it was the Denon 5900, a $2K dvd player! All the others just plain sucked. I never had any problems with freezes.

Strengths:
Sharp detailed picture, great audio w/movies

Weaknesses:
sloooow layer change, menu navigation could be better.

Summary:
product was a disappointment from the get-go. A 1/2 hour into the first movie I put in, it did the freezing thing. Sometimes it would jump ahead, sometimes it would continue to play and sometimes it would start from the beginning...or go to the main menu. I tried other discs but to no avail...it did it to the next 5 movies I tried. With that, I proceeded to box it up and shipped it back the next day. I figured it must have gotten damaged during shipping...but now that I see reviews from other people saying they had the same exact problemm, it is obviously a design flaw and defect from Philips

Strengths:
thin size fits great in with other components in my entertainment center. I also like the plain front w/o all the lights, buttons and screens.
The service dept sent me a return shipping label the next day at no cost

Weaknesses:
well.....the fact it doesnt work correctly right out of the box....thats pretty infuriating
The Cust Service was only willing to replace it with a "Reconditioned" unit after I payed full price for a new unit...no thanks, just credit my credit card.

Summary:
I love the performance of the Q50. I have had very few problems with pauses. Some DVD's seem to be more problematic than others. Both interlaced and prog. scan are amazing. Mine is hooked up to a Sanyo Z1 front projector via the prog. scan output. There are several audio and video adjustments that really come in handy. The DCDi makes a huge difference. I can't possibly beleive my image could be any better.

Strengths:
Picture Quality, Audio, Video adjustments. For me, price.

Weaknesses:
Terrible display on the front of the unit. It is essentially useless.

Summary:
Excelent picture,sound and color.It is one the best dvd player I´ve seen.Similar to the Panasonic RP-82.Doesn´t have croma bug and no frezze picture more.

Strengths:

Menu(I don´t like it),and remote control.Manual is very poor...

Summary:
Simply put I am very disappointed in this unit. It has an awful tendency to momentarily pause while playing DVDs. For any price point this is totally unacceptable. Its spec sheet reads like a wish list for audio/videophiles but never comes close to the promised performance envelope. The control panel is spartan and the remote does not compensate for it. It lacks a proper display for chapter and timing accuracy. As a CD player it is completely useless, it does not allow for the repetition of individual tracks or entire disks. It can not be programmed to do so either. Over all a very this is a limited and faulty unit. DVD players have come along way in the last few months and now offer either SACD or DVD-A capability plus DVD-R/W playback. I can not fault this unit for this lack of features but at its price point it should have at least offered SACD.
