Review NaN of , from DUBLIN

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I run everything on tubes. But for CD's I purchased the Philips DVD 940AT Feb 2000. It had some software problems but there is a DVD Upgrade Disk available. Contact their Customer Care Center 800-531-0039. They are sending it to my house. I do not have it as of this time but will have it in the next week.

Strengths:
Has a software upgrade available.
Works well but will freeze in the middle of some movies and not play a few of them becasuse it will not recogonize the disk. Phillips said they are having problems with some of the new Disney Disks and the software format that is specific to these disks. Disney has been contacted and is working on the problem

Weaknesses:
Will freeze in the middle of some movies and not play a few others at all.

Review NaN of , from Kenora ON Ca

Price Paid:  $200.00 from ubid

Summary:
Machine suddenly stopped playing video Cd's and Silver DVD's. Phoned Phillips for firmware upgrade about a year ago and never received it. Finally found a authorized repair center to fix at my cost and they could't fix it either. Have to make sure I rent gold DVD's now and I'll never get to watch my Holy Grail DVD. Still freezes during layer change.

Strengths:
cheap

Weaknesses:
Will not play Silver DVD's horrible remote noisy slow bad customer support

Review NaN of , from Apollo Base, The Moon

Price Paid:  $114.00 from ubid

Summary:
I agree with the post below. These players have been panned because of a regrettable software error that has been fixed. The player works wornderfully after the software upgrade. I don't believe you could find a player of this quality, with component outs, dual laser, etc. etc. for less than $300. I am glad so many returned it, so that I was able to pick it cheap from ubid.

Strengths:
multiple outputs, component video, performance

Weaknesses:
none to me

Review NaN of , from Rohnert Park, Ca

Price Paid:  $269.00 from Googuys

Summary:
This is just an update from my lasy rview, sorry it ook me so long to get back to it, but i kinda forgot abotu this review until i recentally started reciving many emails about the disc. I did infact recive the firmware upgrade disc in the mail a few days after i called, it just got lost at my campus post office (go figure), once i had the disc in hand i droped it in my machine and five mins later i had a perfecly running DVD player, it freezes no more, ive ran just about every type of DVD on it with no probs, including games like Dragons Lair, and super packed ones like T2:Ultimate Ed. Now i highly reccomend this player, as im sure its price has dropped much more, and also its counter part the dvd950 is great too, its alsmot exact same thing as 940 but has built in surround sound decoding for about the price the 940 was last year. Hope this was helpful if you have anymore questions feel free to email me.
