Review NaN of , from Conneaut, Ohio USA

Price Paid:  $139.00 from Sears

Summary:
Very impressive unit and the price was right. I bought this to replace a Sony DVPS360 purchased in 5/2000 that began to freeze on newer DVD's. Wanted progressive scan for use with my Hitachi 51SWX20B HDTV. Incredible picture and very easy to use. Manual suggests certain settings when using with Pb/Pr/Y video. I'm hearing things in some movies that I never knew were there before. Only complaint is that the remote is small, making some of the buttons very small. The pause and play buttons are not that easy to just push without really looking on the remote. Other than that, highly recommended.

Strengths:
Easy to use and setup, well detailed and written manual, and displays beautifully. Panasonic web site offered enough detailed information (for anyone trying to learn about progressive scan and how features compare and work) that it sold me over any Sony product.

Weaknesses:
Very small buttons on the Panasonic remote. Not an issue if you choose to use one of your other remotes, but you will still need the DVD remote for some functions.

Review NaN of , from Colorado

Price Paid:  $160.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
This is a very good DVD player. I bought it mainly because nobody reported that this player would freeze with scratched rented disks (I had problems with my old DVD player). Also Panasonic doesn’t have some bugs of Toshiba, and it has progressive scan at a reasonable price. So far so good – player is excellent – good sound, good video, no problems reading disks. Another plus – it is made in Japan and not China.

Strengths:
video, audio, quality

Weaknesses:
none noticed so far

Review NaN of , from Fort Worth, TX

Price Paid:  $169.00 from amazon.com

Summary:
This was my first DVD player purchase, and I couldn't be happier. I did a lot of comparing, and researching on the internet before deciding on this model. My main reasons for purchasing it - no reports of "hang-ups" by other users of this model while watching DVDs, progressive scan at a reasonable price, lots of positive comments by other users about the Faroujda chip set, and MP3 and CD-RW capability.

The unit was simple to set up, and works great. The 4:3 zoom feature is especially nice when watching a DVD with 16:9 format only - th ezoom helps fill up more of the screen on a conventional 4:3 TV set like mine. Great picture, no hangs or pauses so far on any movies we've watched.

Audio output is also great. I used this unit to replace my old Tecnics SL-P120 first generation CD player. I can now play CD-Rs CD-RWs, even those formatted with Windows Media Audio format (.wma files). It handles MP3s as well.

I bought this unit at amazon.com on sale for $169 - all the local retailers in my area were charging $179 + tax. In addition, I opted for the "free shipping" option from amazon, so I paid no shipping as well.

Strengths:
Faroujda chip, picture quality, audio file format compatibility (MP3 AND WMA), disc media compatibility (CD-RW, CD-R).

Weaknesses:
None

Similar Products Used:
None - this is my first purchase.
