Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $210.00 from Tri State

Summary:
What I like the most about this player was its'' ability to play the hard to read DVDs. I didn''t have one problem with any DVDs or CDs, not once(I play a lot of DVDs). Performance end of this unit was just perfect and I don''t really have any major complaint about it. Some minor gripes were: 1. Only lighted buttons on the remote was the up/down/right/left. 2. Did not like the gold-finish logos on the player, it''s not very handsome. 3. Lack of the progressive-scan capability(Which led me to sell the player). 4. Can''t play CD-Rs. Overall, It''a an excellent player with lot of extra functions/features you won''t find in lesser models. This was my second Panasonic DVD player, and if it wasn''t for the lack of progressive scan, I''d still own it. I highly recommend Panasonics players, because I never had problems with two that I owned. Two others that I used, I did have problems with(Sharp & Onkyo).

Strengths:
Quality performance, very dependable. Remote control is ugly, but it is easy to operate and very useful(rare quality).

Weaknesses:
Too much gold on the front of the unit. Can''t play CD-Rs.

Similar Products Used:
Panasonic, Onkyo, Sharp

Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Sears

Summary:
I have a sony speaker system that did not have the 5.1 decoder (it only had pro-logic). I needed a player that had the DD decoder and since I had great luck with my previous Panasonic DVD player, I decided to go with this one. I found it on clearance at Sears. I could not believe the price paid for all the features-DD decoder, component out, etc. I have used this player moderately and have had great luck. I am using it with a new Panasonic 36" TV. The picture is top-notch and the sound is great!! Panasonic keeps building up the tradition of a quality electronics company.

Strengths:
Built in DD decoder+component output

Weaknesses:
does not read CD-R or CD-RW

Similar Products Used:
Panasonic A120

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Tower Records

Summary:
The picture is good quality, the sound is better. But cmon now, the thing was a mere $200... At least is doesnt have the dreaded C-13 message (Like the Sonys). Could use some Analog outputs to the receiver. But the optical typicaly sounds better either way. The little extras are pretty good for this one, the cinema controls and the x-bass etc. Seems good so far. Further bulletins as they warrent.

Strengths:
Quality sound in 5.1 mode, Picture is ok, (for NTSC)

Weaknesses:
Still is NTSC.

Similar Products Used:
Onkyo, Sony, Phillips

Price Paid:  $176.00 from Great Northern Stereo

Summary:
I found this gem at a clearance sale and i was suprised to see the features included at the price, built in Dolby decoder for under $200! Out pu options are plentiful with both digital ouputs(coaxial and optic) as well as full 5.1 channel analog outputs. I own technics brand stereo equipment and have always been happy with them (panasonics audio brother) Reliabilty for these products are top notch

Strengths:
Dolby Digital Decoder, Multi-channel analog outputs, best feature to price ratio i could find

Weaknesses:
non user friendly remote
