Summary: I quickly purchsed the RP91K when Crutchfield was offering it over 200-300 dollars cheaper than other retailers. I am so glad I did. It took my awhile to write a review because I wanted to test just about my entire DVD library collection with it (over 530 titles).
It is an amazing piece of machine. The build is strong and heavy, the picture quality is beautiful, high in detail and true color/flesh tones. It also comes with options to "optimize/tailor" your viewing. Many, many options. I have it connected to a Samsung 26" Widescreen HD and a Panasonic 30" Widescreen HD. Both calibrated with Video Essentials and AVIA. This players features and it play back strengths are amazing. Another fine job Panasonic has done.
Strengths: Panasonic Brand, Build Quality, Features, Picture Quality, Progressive Scan, All in Black.
Weaknesses: Remote takes a little getting use to, especially the Enter Button.

NO wear or tear used gently only by me. Mainly watched dvds on teh weekends in a relativly middle class system.
Never tried to open the back or over use it. I have a seperate cd player for my cds.
While it worked it was an awesome machine. One of the best DVD players I've owned. Remote was very functional and worked well also.
Then one day it wouldnt power on!
No one touched it or abused it or did anything nefarious to it.
I called Panasonic and they said I could bring ot to a local repair shop. The local repair shop wanted $90 just for me leave it and look at it. No thanks!
So now I have a $130 paperweight taking up space.
Thanks very much Panasonic.
I'm looking for a new DVD player but it wont be a Panasonic. Funny thing is I used to be a big fan of theres until they started making good equipement that breaks for no reason.
Strengths: Picture and sound
Weaknesses: Planned obsolescence.
Similar Products Used: Other Panasonic, Sony and Harman Kardon.

Summary: I enjoyed this DVD player for about 2 years, but it stopped working after that. Kindof sad for a product of this price range.
The audio quality is excellent and so is the video quality. One thing I didn't like was that it was very slow loading and playing DVD/CD's..
I cannot recommend this product, because I feel the quality does not justify the price. Also, the warranty should be better.
Strengths: Audio/Video Quality
Weaknesses: It worked for about 2 years then does not work anymore..... =(

Summary: I purchased the RP91 after much research on this other audio/video sites. I was moving from a Marantz non-progressive to this unit for my Pioneer Elite HD610. Up until this month I was very happy with the player's audio and video performance. This month, only 22 months from purchase, it started freezing up after an hour or so of play. It is now no longer usable and out of warranty. I should have purchased the extended warranty.
Strengths: No chroma bug.
Good scaling for my Elite HD610
Weaknesses: Construction
Failed less than two years after purchase.
