Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $250.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
This player replaces a JVC 723GD interlaced player. I haven't used the DVD-Audio feature yet (probably because there is nothing out that appeals to me in the format), so can't speak to how good it is. The build is kinda cheap and plasticy(sp) but the mirror effect on the carousel is a nice touch. The video is AWESOME. Short of HD, this player shows what a HDTV is capable of. This is one of the last Panasonics that use the Sage-Faroudja chip for video processing. Easy to set up, very tweak friendly, loads of compatibility, nice looking (except the remote), and not too pricey.

Strengths:
No Chroma Bug Great Progressive Mode Dolby Digital and DTS Output Plethora of software capabilities (DVD-Audio, MP3, CD, DVD-R, DVD-RW)

Weaknesses:
Remote (words cannot begin to describe how bad this thing is) Doesn't feel too sturdy No coax out

Similar Products Used:
Older Sony Player (still using in the bedroom) JVC 723-GD (using in the living room now)

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $260.00 from ebay

Summary:
First off, this is an awesome dvd player. I really like the finish and the picture is unparalleled. It handles dvd-audio, which is a plus. For the money, it can't be beat. I'm running it with a 30 inch widescreen tube and every day I look forward to watching movies on it. Video is reference quality.

Strengths:
Great video from top notch chipset. DVD-AUDIO playback. Progressive scan.

Weaknesses:
none

I enjoy this dvd player for many reasons, first panasonic does a great job on most of their electronics, especially their dvd players, this dvd player is great for the price, and all of the features.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:
im not fond of the carasell dvd players does not play sacd only has optical input, and no coax

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
