The MkII version solved all of Mk I's glitches. There is no CD skipping; disk access is lighting fast; reliability rock solid (so far). Very good picture for 10 bit player, but new DV8300 has sharper picture and richer color. Overall sound is good, but bass is a little weak. And to set the record straight, the DV18 doesn't sound as good as the CD17 or DR17 (both machines have great bass!), but it's not bad. Given the price I really shouldn't complain.
