Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00 from csa

Summary:
Ok, I coming right out and stating I am a Krell guy. I own FPB amps, KPS 28 cd player, HTS ver.1 and this absolutely the best DVD player on the market DVD Standard. I've had this product since it first came out and I have never experienced the things I've expericened with my other 6 players (JVC, Toshiba 9000,9100,9200)and Sony ES. That is, skipping, jumping and all that typical digital malfunctioning garbage. I am using the RGB outputs into a Pioneer HD Plasma and the picture outstanding. The only thing that beats the quality of this picture is a High Def broadcast on HBO or Showtime. The Farouja line doubler and all those fancy chips and boards are very expensive however, if you want that quality picture I guess you need to spend those nuggets.

Strengths:
Upgrade ability, picture performance, Balanced outputs

Weaknesses:
Price is a drawback however, every major player is coming out with those high price players and this one will match them all.

Not enough space.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
The Krell DVD Standard is the Rolex of the DVD Camp. The Brushed Aluminum Build of this machine is gorgeous. The Front display panel buttons however, are too small the same goes for the red LED display. The Back Panel is Much better laid out with Super High Quality Logically Spaced connectors.. The Video Reproduction however puts it in a league of it's own, based around the Faroudja FL2200 de-interlacing chip & companion FL2220 enhancer chip. The Guts include 3 10 MHZ DACs for super pristine DVD replay. The Unit has CD software upgradibility for future use. The on screen A/V menus are super easy to use with many options for the A/V file. The progressive scan on the DVD Standard looks equally impressive as does the Interlaced. The Feature that sets the DVD-ST. apart from all others I've seen is the perfect rendition of black levels even in the most challenging of sceens. The DVD-ST's Audio reproduction on red book cds is w/o fault reproducing tight deep bass lines & solid highs w/o a hint of stress or harshness. The Credit card remote is a bit of a challenge to get used to but works well & fills litte space. The major drawback with this & any in it's performance league is...Price. A Cool Eight Grand....! And this is w/o offering DVD-Audio or SACD replay... But there is no other DVD spinner that can fill this Bill.....

Strengths:
Build,Picture Quality,Sonics, Features

Weaknesses:
Price.... NO DVD-Audio or SACD replay
