Strength:

It had a good recording and play-back picture while it lasted.

Weakness:

Poorly and cheaply made.

This unit only lasted 3 months. The first problem I saw was that deleting shows on a RW DVD did not reset the available recording time. I had to reformat the RW DVDs after each use to get back recording space on it. I put up with that, but one day, it suddenly shut down, and the blue light, and the word “reloading” started flashing on it continuously. I had to unplug it, plug it back again, and then hold power+stop buttons (according to JVC support) to hopefully get it to work again, but only for a few hours. Then it would do the same again. After a month of this, one time it never turned back on again. Sears did not replace it, and JVC customer service did not help me either. So, I ended up throwing it away.
