Price Paid:  $250.00 from ARMY PX Overseas

Summary:
I had this Hitachi DVW1U DVD Player/CD Recorder Dual Deck with Built-In Dolby Digital (AC-3) Decoder for the last 6 years and it is working today as it was 6 years ago. Very good product wich allowed me to transfer my old casset musics in to CD and the DVD plays just perfect.

Strengths:
Everything you expect from a DVD player/ CD burner.

Weaknesses:
NONE.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Homezone Sydney

Summary:
Overall very happy with this and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in buying a DVD with the added bonus of being able to record CDs.

As a DVD player it is fine and has worked well.

I am most impressed with the CD burner, with the onscreen display it is pretty much idiot proof for making copies of CDs. I have also copied at least 20 old tapes onto CD and for this it is just as easy. There is also a function which advances the tracks when there is a break in the music (doesn't always work though). I would recommend using a CD-RW to get it right then record onto a CD-R once you're happy. I haven't made a coaster CD yet, which can't be said for some of my friends efforts with their computers

I would say the only downfall is that audio CD-R and CD-RW discs have to be used. They are a bit more expensive, but have come down in price alot recently and are almost the same price as decent data CDs if you shop around.

Anyone who wants a good CD burner without the hassle of a computer this is a good deal. And the bonus is it is a DVD player aswell.

Strengths:
Built in Decoder, Easy to use onscreen GUI for making CDs, All of the functions expected of a DVD, 2 times burn, ability to copy tapes & records onto CD,

Weaknesses:
Remote looks cheap and can be some delay, You must use audio CD-R and CD-RW which cost more than Data CDs.

Similar Products Used:
Computer (for making CDs), Yammaha

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
