Summary: AVOID
Skips, freezes and pixelates on brand new DVDs randomly
Will have to ditch the product and buy something that will work
Universal remotes can not learn this Hitachi remote.
Strengths: Great features
Excellent picture quality
Weaknesses: Freezes even with brand new DVDs that
my Playstation 2 plays with no problems
Unhappy about with the fact that my Denon AV remote and my "learning" RCA universal remote can't learn this player remote so you have to watch movies with 2 remotes all the time

Summary: fits perfect with my bedroom setup. For the price I paid for this item I could not be happier. It has the Dual digital outputs option and all three video options. The remote is a snap to work and setup is a breeze.
Strengths: Easy setup, has highend hookups
Weaknesses: won''t play CD-R''s

Summary: I was extremely impressed with the picture/sound/features(especially 2x and 4x zoom) and overall quality. I was impressed with the remote control...simple...no need to play with the manual. The bookmark feature was a bonus but is not a feature that will get much use. the remote has an "angle" button but I have been unsucessful in getting it to work thus far. The only real weakness this player has is that the loading time is slow (gives you lots of time to grab something to munch on while waiting). THE HITATCHI DVP315U IS AN EXCEPTIONAL BUY FOR THE BUCK !
Strengths: great features/ simple remote/ excellent buy for the buck
Weaknesses: a little slow loading but thats about it (considering the price paid)

Summary: Got this to replace my old Hitachi 305. I was hoping that they would have sorted out the problems that they were having with their older units. After taking it out of the box, i found that the sound only goes up to 63. Brand new and not working properly. Doesn't inspire confidence. Anyhow, gave them a chance with the new line, and frankly, I no longer have confidence in their DVD line. I'm returning it for something with a better track record. As an aside, my old 305 worked flawlessly for 9 months before displaying all the problems inherent to the line, and not taking a chance with this one
Strengths: Nice spped search, image
Weaknesses: build quality?
