Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Fry's Electronics

Summary:
DVR-5000 simply sucks. Have had nothing but problem with the DVD player. Has made my movie watching experience a living hell with all the skipping. If you are think of buying a Go Video DVR-5000 don't. Had 1st unit returned to SonicBlue for a new one. The 2nd one is in for repair as we speak. The second unit was supposed to take 5-7 days to repair, it has been there almost a month. If you are planning on buying this model DON'T DO IT!

Strengths:
Dual DVD and VCR.

Weaknesses:
DVD skipping

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Good Guys

Summary:
Nice unit with nice features, but not a total win due to the problem with lines in tv. I've tried the unit on various TV's with various tapes and DVD's and the wavy lines were always there.

Strengths:
VCR and DVD built into one form factor. Easy to use remote. Sophisticated programming features.

Weaknesses:
Circuit board needed to be replaced. Phantom no eject on DVD tray from time to time. Ripple lines on TV from either VCR or DVD in RF mode or Video output, but looks great using the component video out for the DVD player.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
