This review is for GE 5803P. The GE 5803P work very well for me. I bought itS in the end of 2001 and have not had any problem. It even play home make SVCD slideshow from my computer. I did consider APEX AD5131 but didn't purchase its because of a) Disk spin too fast when tray open can cause jam b) Too many defect and unrealiable.

I now have an Emerson Ewd7001 Dvd Player. It plays nothing fancy was less than 100.00. I got my money's worth I think ( OH PS: it won;t play the new disney movie Atlantis..compatibility problem says disney) anyhow I got this one becasue my crappy GE had a mind of it's own, It would take sometimes up to 1 hour of opening and closing and power on and off to get something to play , then if I was real lucky after all of that and just getting into the movie, It may continue to run and not freeze up. Well I got so mad I stuck it under the bed and went and got a 100.00 player. Which was doing fine ( but if you forget to turn it off, it overheats and then you have to unplugg it for several hours to get it to do anything ( this is the emerson). I can live with that though, I mean I got what I paid for with the emerson, It works more often than the GE did.

But as a word of good fortune for the GE, After about an hour of playing with it I did Get to See Disney's Atlantis.
