from Circuit City Summary: I was always hesitant about getting an Apex product because of the low cost, I have put that all behind me now. I shopped around for about a month looking at several models with progressive scan. The only model under $500 I could find that would play any format disk was the Apex. The player was a little big but I'm sure that is to accomidate all the extras that are in this player. What more could you ask for? Built in Dolby 5.1 decoding, multiple disk formats, and control over every aspect of your audio and video settings. Incredible! My gripe would be the remote, It isnt very comfortable, and the keys are not laid out all that well. My first suggestion is to take the batteries that came with it and toss them right away. I was upset that I would have to point the remote directly at the player to get it to work, this was a problem for me since I use a front projection unit and my equipment sits behind me. Finally I put new batteries in and was able to bounce it off either the wall or my screen. Picture and audio quality are outstanding, if you are considering this model.. buy it! Strengths: Plays any format, incredible fetures Weaknesses: Remote is a little clumbsy Similar Products Used: Konka, Sony
