I think maybe there were some typos in the review by Anton. The current top of the line headphones offered by Sennheiser are the Sennheiser Orpheus, a VERY fine set which retails for $12100. That's $12075 more than the MX-4. I know this is not supposed to be a discussion area, and Sennheiser certainly doesn't need defending, but this sort of misinformation annoys me. The MX-5 is the current top of the line earphone from Sennheiser. It is pretty much the same thing as the MX-4 with the addition of a volume control. Frequency: 85 - 22,000hz. 16 ohms. The sound as compared with Sennheiser MX-3 (32 ohms) is more detailed in the midrange but leaner in bass. Compared to the MX-4, the sound seems leaner in bass but without the brightness in the high range. So how about the built quality? All three earphones are very poorly built. In fact, I didn't expect a respected headphone company like Sennheiser to make such products. Oh yeah, the MX-4 broke down after a week of listening. What's interesting about these earphones is that all of their cases are shaped the same as the discontinued top of the line Sony Fantopia 'diamond diaphram'. I found this Sony model to be the best earphone I've ever listened to, not to mention built like a gem. I guess that's what you would expect from a 27,000hz max earphone. Sony now has more expensive models with other "unique" diaphrams but I haven't got the chance to audition them. You should check out their website for the pictures. Overall, I found the Sennheiser MX-5 to be better as compared to low end companies such as Aiwa and Koss. But you can get a better deal with the Sony's so why bother. Now finding them could be a problem...

Everyone knows that Sennheiser makes great headphones. Please note the difference between "earphones" and "headphones".

PS: The "top of the line" HD600 actually sounds worse than the HD580.
