Price Paid:  $60.00 from www.prodjstore.com

Summary:
I am not a DJ, and I do not use the EM-400 headphones for DJ use. Actually, these phones are awesome for computer gamers needing QUALITY equipment to use and impress others at LAN parties. Visit the manufacturer's website at http://www.geminidj.com

Strengths:
The EM-400 headphones look great, are comfortable for wearing for extended periods of time, and offer excellent sound quality. You can really crank up the noise in these for the times ambient room noise is impeding upon whatever you're listening to. The phones are padded nicely; so is the top that rests on your head. The Swivel Gooseneck Dynamic mic is sturdy enough not to break. It swivels from front to back and allows the EM-400 to be worn with the cord on your left or right shoulder. The headphones cup and fold nicely for ease of storage and protection during transit. The cable is 12ft and coiled for easy manageability. The phones are equipped with 50mm Mylar Transducers, Frequency response of 20Hz-20KHz, sealed earcups, 1/4" stereo plug with 1/8" gold adapter for headphone and 1/4" monaural plug for microphone.

Weaknesses:
Construction is of plastic--metal would have been nice for durability and aesthetics. The boom microphone is monaural; stereo would have been nice. The plugs on the EM-400 are 1/4". Gemini packages with the headphones a 1/4" to 1/8" stereo converter. because the jacks on the computer sound card are so close together, you won't be able to plug both the mic and headphones in simultaneously with the type of converter packaged with the headphones. I had to buy a cable to extend the jacks apart to plug these phones into my PC sound card. What worked for me is to use the 1/4" to 1/8" type converter packaged with the headphones and plug them each into a 6" y cable that you would use to plug two sets of headphones into one portable audio player. The y is not necessary... but I had to improvise with what I had. Radio Shack carries this product AD-YC042 for $5. I wish these headphones were wireless AND had the microphone...

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
