Strength:

Price, size, weight, neutrality, soundstage

Weakness:

None for the price

I purchased the NS-125 at best Buy after comparing them to every other speaker in the listening room (back when they had a separate room) and with the exception of the largest JBLs I thought them best overall. There is nothing remarkable about these speakers other than maybe their price. They have a limited frequency range and are probably no good for rock or other "thunderous" bass applications, but, amazingly there is enough deep base to give one a strong hint something's going on "down there". The speakers are amazingly neutral for their price, the definition is OK and the soundstage is satisfactory, considering. For their price, there is virtually nothing to fault them. I use a Velodyne sub-woofer when I want real punch, but that's not as often as one might think, considering their 3 inch "woofers".

Strength:

Bass, bass, and bass. These slim speakers will make you think you have a sub running along. For their intended purpose as HT speakers I think Yamaha really nailed it with the design. The build quality is top notch for the price and wood makes it really elegant in the living room. This is certainly a better buy than the packaged HT slim speakers you see in the common electronic stores though they don't cost that much more.

Weakness:

The center, sub, and surrounds look like those cheap 80's boxes compared to the fronts. The highs can be crisper but it's a matter of preference. Actually for HT it's perfect but I'm used to $2K bookshelves with accurate imaging.

Probably the best buy there is for slim flat panel companion front speakers. I haven't heard the NS-225F so not sure if it's a similar best buy as well.
