Strength:

Just to ad some observations i have done during setup of these. I purchased them , unheard second hand. Brought them home and hooked them up my amp Parasound Halo A21 , wow this sound was awful, i turned the music, and after a couple of hours i went back, this cant be right, so started moving back and forth , narrow , wider, it got a little better, still something is missing no bass output or at least not enough to my ears. I opened the little hatch to small chamber for sand totally empty. Sp after purchasing 15 liter of dry sand , i added up 2/3 in the chamber. So after after i reinstalled the speakers 32 cm from baacl wall 1.8 meters in between , a totally different speaker i will tell you, now the balance between top and bottom was place , bass was now well defined, I`m impressed with a little work around , sand and spikes installed it came a live.

Weakness:

I have never owned speakers who could change sound like this , it was going from hell to heaven, and i would imagine these will not suit equipment leaning to the bright side , so matching of amps is needed. Good hunting :-)

I have the 3.5 in my listening room along with a perfectly matched MF nu-vista super intergrated amplifier and 3d cd player, the amplifier is 250w per channel into 8ohms and the proacs are perfectly matched, i have had many speakers but the 3.5 is bliss, this speaker despite only having two 6.5" woofers has so much bass response its unbelievable, they have superb speed and dynamics, far better than anything i have ever heard, trying to put accross how good these are is useless in words, you realy have to hear them for yourself if your lucky enough to ever do so, be warned though if you have back problems do not try and move these 70kg speakers yourself, it took me a while to toe these in just to get them right but boy are they superb, to hear a speaker that actualy creates a sound that you cannot place where the music is coming from is truly magicle, shut your eyes and you are there in the crowd infront of the live performance.

I further improved the resonance by making some isolation platforms out of 38mm mdf with bevelled edges and sprayed them with ten coats of satin black paint, they have done the job marvelous and also look the part with the speakers being light veneer, they do require a pretty large room to get the best out of them, and as they are over 50" high also requires them to be in a pretty large room.

Strength:

Outstanding bass and midrange. Very dynamic.

Weakness:

Only as good as the rest of your system. Big sacifice $$$ for me. Worth it. Has to go to 18k or more to better the sound.

I've owned these speakers for at lease 6 years. they are great speakers to my ears. Every time I've improved other components in my system the sound of my speakers vastly improves. Added Tekna speaker vibration control devices on them. Improves the sound even more.

Strength:

Accurate sound

Weakness:

It sounds the equipment.

I''m using Proac 3. This is a great speakers. However can anyone tell me should i place the speakers with the tweeters face out or in. I''m not too sure which is the right and left speakers as the tweeters offset to one edge of the cabinets.

Just to support the above statements - however, initially, when I first installed my 3.5s I was a bit disappoinetd - they sounded a bit on the soft side. But, I have since discovered that whatever change you make in your system they will reflect it - now they are sweet and dynamic. It was my deck that made them sound soft - changing this and the speaker cable has transformed the sound.

I have owned the Proac Respose 3.5 for about 3 years and liking them more with every passing year. In this period I've upgraded alot of my system and find that they keep geeting better with every change I make. I sneak away to stereo stores to other speakers I read about (envious) but always come home happy that I have the Proacs. The truth of timbre of musical instruments is as good as I've heard. The midrange is magical and mid base rich and tuneful. I initially found the highs to be a bit on the bright side but corrected this with a change of cables to a pair of bi-wired Cardas Golden Cross. These are amongst the very few speakers I've heard that are highly revealing while at the same time being musical. The addition of a power line conditioner improved the soundstage and transparency to the nth degree. Although I still have the occassional urge to upgrade my electronics, I don't thing I'll be parting with the Proacs for a while.

I am in complete agreement. I have a beautiful pair in Rosewood, and find them transparent, detailed, and above all musical. I drive them with Chord 1400 monoblocks fed by a C-J Premier 16LS (baby ART) using Nordost SPM Reference cable throughout the system. I have no desire to upgrade them - although I have been very impressed with the Avalon Eidolon loudspeakers.

I've owned a pair of ProAc Response 3.5 for 4-yrs and am extremely happy with the smoothness of the sound. Anyone with similar experience care to share his/her view?

Strength:

Very detail oriented & spacious sounding

Weakness:

Requires comparable components

Very good speaker but a waste of money if comparable components are not used with them. Very elegant looking, usually will please the female decorating tastes.
