Bought the new XLS 12 from on line dealer payments were spread out over 6 months no interest figure can not go wrong. There big and heavy UPS dropped off at my front door, one look and I said " OY VAY" . Up two flight of stairs it was a choir. Hooked them up to a quality 100 watt and 55 watt triode tube amp. Give them at least a month to break in . You can see there and some parts are cheap and mass produce . The cabinet walls, speaker terminals and wire mesh grill is surprise of decent quality. I install big brass feet instead of the supplied rubber ones. With the tube amp the sound is musical and clean and clear. The tweeter on high notes starts to sizzle .The bass is tight and broad mid range not bad a little recessed. They are also pretty efficient 50-60 watt quality amp will do it and sound very nice even at low volume .Put a good source digital or record player these speakers will surprise you with there musical reproduction .They look better with there grills left on and takes time to even take them off. Plus you can see the cheap parts with the grills off. If Cerwin Vega can do some minor upgrades to these speakers better cross over circuit, quality tweeter , a colored ink for there name plate , with out raising the price , they one Hell of a bargain . But all; said and done for the price and payment arrangements and looks nice in your house and could play in a medium room . With quality amp, cables, source what the high end speakers sell for lets say 3 grand for one of those British monitors that you can fit in your pants . No where the sound these can produce .
