Regular TV feed won't blow your mind (outside of HDTV)

I've owned my Pioneer Elite 50" monitor for 5 months now and have no complaints. I looked extensively at other systems and am glad I made the choice to go with the Pioneer. Not being an electronics junkie, quality of picture is about the only thing I am looking for in a TV. Watching DVD's on this set is like being in a theater. Do yourself a favor, don't get cheap when looking at a plasma monitor. Spend the extra money and go straight to the top. I'm so glad I didn't settle for a Panasonic system, or worse yet, one of those Gateway rip-offs. You really can see the difference in this set compared to other systems. The only negative, which is nothing to do with the monitor, is the quality of picture from my TV feed. I have Direct TV service, which in my case is managed by SBC, the worst company on the planet. They do not offer HDTV service as of yet and my options are limited in the building in which I live. Time to move!!! There are probably ways to improve the picture through tuning, although with my knowledge of electronics I haven't tried. Get yourself one!!!

This review is for the Pioneer Pro 800HD which is a 43" plasma and relatively the same features as the 1000HD. This set is AWESOME. Granted, I have the Krell DVD Standard which allows,VGA(componet), RGB(viaBNC connections) to plasma and other high end projector type TV's. These type of conncetions and output really provides the best possible imagines. I choose to hook up the dvd with the VGA connectors and the piture quality after some adjusting and tweaking shines. You needed to get an adapter (RCA to BNC) in order to hook up your VCR or DVD. The TV does not support RCA type conncetion except for audio. It has several s-video conncetion slots, which by the way looked very good but, it did not compare with the component hook up. If you are going to hang the set on he wall I suggest you have several buddies around for complete safety. The TV weights around 84 lbs and for those of you planning to put the set on a table or A/V unit you need to purchase a stand. This goes for both the 1000/800 Hd. The stand runs for $400 and is very easy to assemble and attach the set. Again, this a monitor, the remote control has no channel changing no PIP nothing. It allows to to change the screen size and format, increase or decrease quality of picture, volume (through speakers you need to purchase)and which input you care to watch. Yes, that's about all the reomte is good for. However, once you get the set the way you like it, you will go through all your favorite DVD's again. Fifth Element, Harry Potter, Lords of the Ring look so gooooooood. I did alot of searching and demoing I felt the only set close or better was the Fuji. The only opinion that counts is yours, happy hunting but give this set a try. By the way, it is by far the prettiest set out there. WIFE FACTOR.
